He is best known for winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1965, driving a Ferrari 250LM with co-driver Nino Vaccarella. Jean Guichet began his racing career in the early 1950s, competing in hillclimbs and rallies. He made his Formula One debut in 1958, driving for the Scuderia Centro Sud team. He competed in a total of 11 Formula One races, with a best finish of fourth place at the 1959 French Grand Prix. In 1965, Jean Guichet and Nino Vaccarella won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, driving a Ferrari 250LM. He also won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1966, driving a Ferrari 330P3. Jean Guichet retired from racing in 1967. He is now 96 years old.

He successfully raced this car, including an overall win of the 1963 Tour de France with co-driver José Behra. Following Guichet's sale of the car in 1965 and multiple subsequent ownership changes, this car was sold privately in September 2013 for $52,000,000 USD. This broke the then-current record for world's most expensive car.
