Jean-Jacques Aillagon is a French politician who served as Minister of Culture and Communication from 2002 to 2007. He was born on 2 October 1946 in Metz, France. He studied at the École Normale Supérieure and the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris. Aillagon was a member of the French National Assembly from 1986 to 2002, representing the Moselle department. He was also a member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1992. In 2002, Aillagon was appointed Minister of Culture and Communication by President Jacques Chirac. He held the position until 2007. During his tenure, he was responsible for the implementation of the French Cultural Exception, which aimed to protect the French film industry from foreign competition. In 2007, Aillagon was appointed President of the Centre Georges Pompidou, a modern art museum in Paris. He held the position until 2012.
