Jeff Rimer is a Canadian sportscaster and radio personality. He is best known for his work as the play-by-play announcer for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Rimer was born on July 18, 1955 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a degree in physical education. Rimer began his broadcasting career in 1978 as a radio announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He then moved to the Washington Capitals in 1981, where he served as the team's play-by-play announcer for the next 18 years. In 2000, Rimer joined the Columbus Blue Jackets as their play-by-play announcer. He has been with the team ever since, and is currently the longest-tenured broadcaster in the NHL. Rimer has also served as a play-by-play announcer for the NHL on ESPN, and has been a guest commentator on Hockey Night in Canada. Rimer is married to his wife, Karen, and they have two children.
