Jens Marcussen is a Norwegian politician who served as the Minister of Fisheries from 1981 to 1986. He was born on 20 May 1926 in Dypvåg, Norway. He is a member of the Norwegian Labour Party. Marcussen attended the University of Oslo, where he earned a degree in political science. He was first elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1969, and served as a Member of Parliament until 1981. In 1981, Marcussen was appointed Minister of Fisheries in the cabinet of Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland. He held this position until 1986. During his tenure, he was responsible for the introduction of the Norwegian Fisheries Act, which established a quota system for the fishing industry. Marcussen has also served as a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1989 to 1995. He is currently a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
