Jerry Reed was an American country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor who was born on 8 October, 1955 in Bryson City, North Carolina, United States. He was best known for his novelty songs, his signature song "When You're Hot, You're Hot" (1971), and his acting roles in films such as Smokey and the Bandit (1977). Reed began his music career in the late 1950s, performing in local clubs and bars. He released his first single, "If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise", in 1958. He went on to release several more singles and albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including the hit singles "Amos Moses" (1970) and "When You're Hot, You're Hot" (1971). Reed also had a successful acting career, appearing in films such as Smokey and the Bandit (1977), The Waterboy (1998), and The Dukes of Hazzard (2005). He also appeared in television shows such as The Dukes of Hazzard and The Fall Guy. Reed was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. He died on 1 September 2008 at the age of 71. At the time of his death, Reed had an estimated net worth of $20 million. He earned most of his wealth from his music and acting career.
