He is best known for his work on the films The Pianist (2002), The Decalogue (1989), and The Double Life of Veronique (1991). He has also worked on television series such as The Decalogue (1989), The Decalogue II (1990), and The Decalogue III (1991). Matysiak was born on 12 September 1944 in Stepocin, Wielkopolskie, Poland. He studied at the National Film School in Łódź, Poland, and graduated in 1971. He has worked in the film industry since then, and has been involved in the production of over 50 films. Matysiak has won numerous awards for his work, including the Polish Film Award for Best Art Direction for The Pianist (2002), the Polish Film Award for Best Special Effects for The Decalogue (1989), and the Polish Film Award for Best Special Effects for The Double Life of Veronique (1991).
