Joe Ball (rugby league) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. He played at club level for St. Helens, Warrington, and Leigh, as a Prop, or Second-row, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums. Joe Ball was born on 1 April 1927 in St Helens, Merseyside, England. He began his professional career with St. Helens in 1950, and went on to play for Warrington and Leigh. He was a member of the St. Helens team that won the Championship in 1956. Joe Ball retired from playing in 1965, and went on to become a coach. He coached Leigh from 1965 to 1967, and then St. Helens from 1967 to 1969. He was also the coach of the Great Britain team in the 1968 World Cup. Joe Ball is now retired and lives in St Helens. He is 93 years old.
