Joe Cohn is an American jazz guitarist, composer, and educator. He was born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx. He began playing guitar at the age of nine and studied with jazz guitarists Barry Galbraith and Sal Salvador. He attended the Manhattan School of Music and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance. Cohn has performed with a variety of jazz artists, including Wynton Marsalis, Joe Lovano, and the Mingus Big Band. He has also performed with the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and the New York Pops. He has released several albums as a leader, including "Restoration" (2006), "The Joe Cohn Quartet" (2008), and "The Joe Cohn Trio" (2010). Cohn is also an educator, teaching jazz guitar at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. He has also taught at the University of North Texas, the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and the University of Massachusetts.
