Joffre Daigle is a Canadian physician and professor emeritus at the University of Ottawa. He was born on 24 July, 1925 in Edmundston, New Brunswick. He is the son of a French-Canadian father and an Acadian mother. Daigle studied medicine at the University of Ottawa and graduated in 1950. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. He went on to specialize in cardiology and was appointed professor of medicine at the University of Ottawa in 1965. Daigle has been a leader in the field of cardiology and has made significant contributions to the understanding of heart disease. He has published over 200 scientific papers and has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Daigle is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Cardiology. Daigle is married to his wife, Monique, and has three children. He is currently 93 years old.
