John Bassett was a Canadian actor who was born on 25 August, 1915 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He was best known for his roles in the television series The Beachcombers and The Littlest Hobo. Bassett began his career in the 1940s, appearing in a number of films and television shows. He was a regular on the CBC series The Beachcombers from 1972 to 1990, playing the role of Constable John Constable. He also appeared in the television series The Littlest Hobo from 1979 to 1985. Bassett was married to actress and singer Gail Bassett from 1945 until her death in 2002. He had two children, a son and a daughter. Bassett died on 28 April, 2005 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at the age of 89. He was survived by his two children and four grandchildren. John Bassett had an estimated net worth of $2 million at the time of his death.
