John Fedchock is an American jazz trombonist, composer, arranger, and bandleader. He has been active in the jazz scene since the late 1970s, and has released several albums as a leader. He has also performed and recorded with a variety of jazz artists, including the Woody Herman Orchestra, the Mel Lewis Orchestra, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band. Fedchock was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and began playing trombone at the age of nine. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied classical trombone and composition. After graduating in 1979, he moved to New York City and began performing with a variety of jazz groups. In the 1980s, Fedchock began to establish himself as a leader, releasing his first album, "The New York Big Band", in 1985. He has since released several more albums as a leader, including "The Big Band Sound of John Fedchock" (1995), "Live at the Red Sea Jazz Festival" (1998), and "Live at the Jazz Standard" (2005). Fedchock has also performed and recorded with a variety of jazz artists, including the Woody Herman Orchestra, the Mel Lewis Orchestra, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band.
