On February 6, 2019, the Virgin Islands Police Department arrested John A. Jackson, a 30-year-old St. Thomas man, and charged him with having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

On February 23, 2019, Jackson was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations for the production of child pornography stemming from a sexual offense against a 15-year old girl.

On April 18, 2019, Jackson was issued a ten-count indictment, charging him with two counts of production of child pornography, three counts of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, one count of first-degree rape, and three counts of second-degree aggravated rape.

2016

In May 2016 Jackson suffered the 3rd defeat of his career to Jermell Charlo, getting stopped in the 8th round. Before the stoppage, Jackson was outboxing Charlo and led on all the scorecards 69-64.

2009

Jackson turned pro in 2009. His professional record is 20 wins, with 15 coming via the way of knockout, and 3 losses. He lost a controversial decision to Willie Nelson and lost on a 5th-round KO to Andy Lee.

At the first Olympic qualifier in March 2008, however, he defeated Argentinian Diego Chaves and PanAm Champion Pedro Lima 19:10 to qualify. He lost to Cuban Carlos Banteaux, but this did not affect his qualification. In Beijing he upset Magomed Nurutdinov 4:2 but lost 0:10 to Kim Jung-joo.

At the PanAm Games in 2007 his first bout was against favourite Demetrius Andrade; Jackson was beaten 5:23. At the 2007 World Championships he again lost in the first round, this time to Aliasker Bashirov.

His brother Julius Jackson competes at light-heavyweight, and they are both sons of hard-hitting boxer Julian Jackson. He is currently jailed and facing a minimum 15-year sentence for allegedly raping a 15-year old girl, and producing child pornography. He challenged once for the WBC super welterweight title in 2016.
