John Joy Bell was a Scottish writer and poet. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on 7 May 1871. He was educated at the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh. He was a prolific writer, publishing over 30 books of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. He was also a noted lecturer and public speaker. John Joy Bell was a member of the Glasgow Literary Society and the Glasgow Poetry Society. He was a regular contributor to the Glasgow Herald and the Glasgow Evening News. He was also a member of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. John Joy Bell was a popular figure in the literary circles of Glasgow. He was a friend of the poet Robert Burns and the novelist Sir Walter Scott. He was also a friend of the poet Robert Louis Stevenson. John Joy Bell died on 28 April, 1932 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was buried in the Glasgow Necropolis.
