Kenyon a proud Blackburn man took the chance to sign for his local side under Ken Furphy as an 18 year old teenager, his timely goal vs Brighton & Hove Albion was instrumental in the club's Third Division championship in 1975.  A loan spell at Liverpool were he scored a hat-trick against his employers saw him return to Blackburn, after falling out of favour with Jim Smith ex Derby County Manager he joined Wigan Athletic, after a short spell at the Latics a move to another local Lancashire club Runcorn FC in 1977, were he became another one of the fans favoured players supporting them throughout their FA Cup qualifying campaign.

Known for his speed and eye for goal, Kenyon began his career with a local Lancashire club Great Harwood Town in 1970. He would become one of the stars of the club during the early 1970s, which sparked interest from Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Blackburn Rovers.
