John Niparko is an American otolaryngologist and professor of otolaryngology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the director of the Johns Hopkins Listening Center and the director of the Cochlear Implant Program at Johns Hopkins. Niparko was born in 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1981 and completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Michigan in 1985. He then completed a fellowship in otology and neurotology at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles in 1987. Niparko is a professor of otolaryngology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the director of the Johns Hopkins Listening Center. He is also the director of the Cochlear Implant Program at Johns Hopkins. He has published over 200 articles and book chapters and has lectured extensively on the topics of hearing loss, cochlear implants, and auditory neuropathy. Niparko has received numerous awards and honors, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery's Distinguished Service Award, the American Otological Society's Honorary Member Award, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery's Presidential Citation.
