John Osogo is a Kenyan historian and academic. He was born on 1 January 1927 in Bukhani Village, Port Victoria, Busia District, Kenya. He is the author of several books on Kenyan history, including "The History of the Busia District" and "The History of the Luo People of Kenya". Osogo attended the University of Nairobi, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. He then went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of London. Osogo has served as a professor of history at the University of Nairobi since 1972. He has also served as a visiting professor at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and the University of Zimbabwe. Osogo is a member of the Kenya Historical Society and the International Institute of African Languages and Cultures. He is also a member of the International Council on African Studies. Osogo is married and has three children. He is currently living in Nairobi, Kenya.
