He was educated at the University of Oxford, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. John Turner began his political career in 1962, when he was elected to the House of Commons as a Liberal Member of Parliament. He served in various cabinet positions in the governments of Pierre Trudeau and Jean Chrétien, including Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs. In 1984, Turner was chosen as the leader of the Liberal Party and became the 17th Prime Minister of Canada. He served for just 79 days, the shortest term of any Canadian Prime Minister. After leaving office, he returned to the private sector and served as a corporate director and consultant. John Turner is currently 69 years old.
