John Wayne Bobbitt is an American actor and media personality. He is best known for his involvement in the 1993 incident in which his then-wife, Lorena Bobbitt, cut off his penis. He was born on March 23, 1967 in Buffalo, New York. Bobbitt served in the United States Marine Corps from 1985 to 1991. After his discharge, he worked as a bouncer and a bodyguard. In 1993, he and Lorena Bobbitt were married. In June 1993, Lorena Bobbitt cut off her husband's penis with a kitchen knife. She was later acquitted of malicious wounding by reason of temporary insanity. John Wayne Bobbitt underwent reconstructive surgery and was able to regain full use of his penis. In the aftermath of the incident, Bobbitt became a media sensation. He appeared on numerous talk shows and was the subject of several books and documentaries. He also appeared in several adult films. In 1997, Bobbitt married Joanna Ferrell. The couple divorced in 2003. Bobbitt has since remarried and has two children.
