Josefina Cota Cota is a Mexican politician and Senator for the state of Baja California. She was born on 3 June 1956 in La Paz, Mexico. She is a member of the National Action Party (PAN). Cota Cota studied law at the Autonomous University of Baja California and obtained her degree in 1979. She began her political career in the PAN in the 1980s, and was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1991. She was re-elected in 1994 and 1997. In 2000, Cota Cota was elected to the Senate, where she has served since. She has been a member of the Senate's committees on Foreign Relations, Education, and Health. She has also served as the president of the Senate's Commission on Human Rights. Cota Cota is married to businessman and politician Fernando Castro Trenti, with whom she has two children. She is 64 years old.
