Josep Ferrer i Bujons is a Catalan poet, writer, and linguist. He was born in Rubió, Spain, on 12 May 1959. He studied Catalan philology at the University of Barcelona and has a PhD in Catalan philology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has published several books of poetry, essays, and novels, and has been awarded several literary prizes. He is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Writers in Catalan Language). Ferrer i Bujons has been a professor of Catalan language and literature at the University of Barcelona since 1985. He is also a member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (Institute of Catalan Studies). He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Estudis Romànics and a member of the board of directors of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana. Ferrer i Bujons has received numerous awards for his work, including the Premi de la Crítica Serra d'Or (Serra d'Or Critics' Prize) in 1988, the Premi de Poesia Ciutat de Barcelona (City of Barcelona Poetry Prize) in 1989, and the Premi de Poesia Miquel de Palol (Miquel de Palol Poetry Prize) in 1992.
