Josy Mosar was a professional footballer who played for the Luxembourg national team from 1947 to 1959. He was a midfielder and was known for his excellent passing and dribbling skills. He was also known for his leadership qualities and was the captain of the Luxembourg national team for many years. Mosar was born in Holzem, Luxembourg and began his football career at the age of 16 with local club FC Holzem. He then moved to FC Stade Dudelange, where he played for two years before joining FC Avenir Beggen in 1947. He spent the next 12 years at the club, helping them to win the Luxembourg Cup in 1951 and the Luxembourg Championship in 1953. In 1959, Mosar retired from professional football and returned to Holzem, where he worked as a coach and a scout for the Luxembourg Football Federation. He was also a member of the Luxembourg Football Hall of Fame. Mosar was married to his wife, Marie-Anne, for over 60 years and had two children. He passed away in 2019 at the age of 96.
