K. L. Shivalinge Gowda is a 93-year-old Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1983 to 1985. He was born on 30 June 1926 in Kanakapura, Mysore State (now Karnataka), India. He is a member of the Indian National Congress party. Gowda completed his primary education in Kanakapura and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Mysore. He then went on to pursue a law degree from the same university. Gowda began his political career in 1952 when he was elected to the Mysore Legislative Assembly. He served as the Minister of Education in the Mysore State Government from 1962 to 1967. He was then elected to the Lok Sabha in 1967 and served as the Minister of State for Home Affairs in the Union Government from 1971 to 1972. Gowda was elected as the Chief Minister of Karnataka in 1983 and served until 1985. He was also elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1985 and served until 1991. Gowda is married to Smt. Lakshmidevi and has two sons and two daughters. He currently resides in Bangalore, Karnataka.
