Katherine Bergeron is an American academic administrator who currently serves as the President of Connecticut College. She was born on 10 February, 1958 in New London, Connecticut, United States. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Connecticut College in 1980 and her Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago in 1984. Bergeron began her career as an assistant professor of French at the University of Chicago in 1984. She then moved to the University of Pennsylvania in 1988, where she served as an associate professor of French and Comparative Literature. In 1995, she was appointed as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2002, Bergeron was appointed as the President of Connecticut College, becoming the first woman to serve in the role. During her tenure, she has overseen the construction of a new science center, the renovation of the college's library, and the establishment of a new center for the study of global citizenship. Bergeron has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the Connecticut College Medal of Excellence, the Connecticut College Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Connecticut College Alumni Association's Distinguished Service Award.
