Kenn Kaufman is an American naturalist, author, artist, and conservationist. He was born in 1954 in South Bend, Indiana. He is best known for his field guides, including the Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America, which he co-authored with the renowned ornithologist, Kenn Kaufman. Kaufman is a self-taught naturalist and has been birding since he was a child. He has written several books on birding and natural history, including Kingbird Highway, Lives of North American Birds, and Advanced Birding. He is also a contributing editor for Audubon magazine and a columnist for Bird Watcher's Digest. Kaufman is a passionate conservationist and has been involved in numerous conservation projects, including the protection of the endangered Kirtland's Warbler. He is also a board member of the American Birding Association and the National Audubon Society. Kaufman is married to Kimberly Kaufman, a wildlife biologist and the director of the Black Swamp Bird Observatory. They have two children.
