Kenny Ball was a British jazz musician and bandleader, best known for his 1960 hit single "Midnight in Moscow". He was born in Ilford, Essex, England, and began playing the trumpet at the age of 12. He joined the Chris Barber Jazz Band in 1958, and soon after formed his own band, Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen. The band had a string of hits in the 1960s, including "Samantha", "Sack o' Woe", and "March of the Siamese Children". Ball also released several solo albums, including Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen Play the Blues (1962) and Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen Play the Beatles (1966). He continued to tour and record until his death in 2013.
