Rowe-Finkbeiner has spoken on family economic security, women's issues, community engagement and grassroots organizing, and other issues at, among other venues, SXSW, the National Press Club, the Aspen Institute, the White House Forum on Citizen-Based Innovators (2012), the White House Summit on Working Families (2014), and the White House Symposium on Transformative Family Engagement (2014), the Center for American Progress, The National Democratic Convention, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, NetRoots Nation, Democracy Fest, Citizen University, the League of Women Voters National Conference, the International Leadership Association Conference, Campaign for America’s Future Take Back the American Dream Conference, Seattle Town Hall, numerous universities, union events, rallies, and more.

2006

In 2006, The Motherhood Manifesto, which Rowe-Finkbeiner co-authored with MomsRising co-founder and board President, Joan Blades (who is also co-founder of MoveOn.org), was published. Released on Mother’s Day, the book includes an agenda for change, to make parenting and the workplace compatible and improve the lives of families. In 2007, The Motherhood Manifesto won the Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book Prize. The book is also the basis for a documentary film of the same name, which aired on PBS stations across the country.

Rowe-Finkbeiner has served as executive director/CEO of MomsRising.org since 2006. From 1996 to 2006, she worked as a political and grassroots engagement consultant and policy analyst for numerous organizations, including League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, Audubon Society, NW Ecosystem Alliance, McDanel Land Foundation, Washington Conservation Voters, Washington Environmental Alliance for Voter Education, Atmosphere Alliance. From 1992-96, she was political and field director of the Washington Conservation Voters, where she created a model statewide grassroots program to elect, endorse, and support environmentally responsible candidates.
