Kurt Hartung is a German former athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres. He was born on 17 April 1925 in Waldheim, Germany. Hartung competed for Germany in the 1948 Summer Olympics held in London, Great Britain in the 400 metres where he won the bronze medal. He also competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland in the 400 metres where he won the silver medal. Hartung was a member of the German 4 x 400 metres relay team which won the gold medal in the 1952 Summer Olympics. He also won the gold medal in the 400 metres at the 1950 European Athletics Championships in Brussels, Belgium. Hartung was a member of the German 4 x 400 metres relay team which won the gold medal at the 1950 European Athletics Championships. He was also a member of the German 4 x 400 metres relay team which won the silver medal at the 1954 European Athletics Championships in Bern, Switzerland. Hartung retired from athletics in 1956. He is 98 years old.
