During the Finals of the 2018–19 Chinese Basketball Association season, Kelanbaike Makan collided with teammate Sun Tonglin. Kyranbek needed to get his front teeth removed. During the surgery, he refused to anesthesia because he was afraid it would limit his flexibility. In Game 3, Kyranbek hit two 3-pointers and displayed his defensive skills as he had a positive impact on the game when he guarded MarShon Brooks. He subsequently gained standing ovation from the crowd.
