Lachlan Mackinnon is a British poet and author. He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1956. He studied English Literature at the University of Aberdeen and then went on to pursue a career in writing. He has published several collections of poetry, including The Book of the Dead (1985), The Last of the Wild (1989), and The Sea of Silence (1995). Mackinnon has won several awards for his work, including the Scottish Arts Council Book Award in 1989 and the Saltire Society Scottish Book of the Year Award in 1995. He has also been shortlisted for the Whitbread Poetry Award and the Forward Poetry Prize. Mackinnon currently lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, with his wife and two children. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of the Scottish Poetry Library.
