László Nagy (figure skater) is a Hungarian figure skater who competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics. He was born on 13 August, 1927 in Szombathely, Hungary. Nagy began skating at the age of seven and was coached by his father. He competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where he placed sixth in the men's singles event. He also competed in the World Championships in 1947 and 1948, placing fourth and fifth respectively. Nagy was a three-time Hungarian national champion, winning the title in 1947, 1948, and 1949. He also won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1948. Nagy retired from competitive skating in 1950 and went on to become a coach. He coached the Hungarian national team from 1951 to 1956 and then moved to the United States, where he coached at the Broadmoor Skating Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He also coached at the Skating Club of New York and the Skating Club of Boston. Nagy was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2002. He is 78 years old. In 1954 Nagy received his medical degree, and later for 30 years worked at a sports clinic in Budapest, being its chief physician in 1972–1987. He also served as a medical officer for Hungary’s national figure skating and football federations, and prepared several figure skaters, including Zsuzsa Almássy.
