Laura Mariu is a New Zealand rugby league footballer who currently plays for the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL Women's Premiership. She is a former New Zealand representative, having represented the Kiwi Ferns in the 2017 Women's Rugby League World Cup. Mariu was born on 2 December 1980 in New Zealand. She attended the University of Auckland, where she studied a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Mariu began her rugby league career in 2006, playing for the Papakura Sea Eagles in the Auckland Rugby League competition. She was selected for the New Zealand Kiwi Ferns in 2017, and was part of the team that won the 2017 Women's Rugby League World Cup. Mariu joined the New Zealand Warriors in 2018, and was part of the team that won the inaugural NRL Women's Premiership in 2018. She was also part of the Warriors team that won the 2019 NRL Women's Premiership. Mariu is currently the captain of the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL Women's Premiership. She is also a member of the New Zealand Rugby League's Women's Advisory Group.
