Lazhar Karoui Chebbi is a Tunisian lawyer and politician who has served in various government positions, including as Minister of Justice and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was born on 7 October 1927 in Tunis, Tunisia. He studied law at the University of Tunis and graduated in 1952. He began his career as a lawyer in 1954 and was appointed as a judge in the Court of Appeal in Tunis in 1959. He was appointed Minister of Justice in 1962 and held the position until 1964. He was then appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1964 and held the position until 1966. In 1967, he was appointed as a judge in the Supreme Court of Tunisia and held the position until 1971. He was then appointed as a judge in the Constitutional Court of Tunisia in 1971 and held the position until 1975. He was appointed as a member of the Tunisian Senate in 1975 and held the position until 1981. He was then appointed as a member of the Tunisian Constitutional Council in 1981 and held the position until 1987. He is currently a professor of law at the University of Tunis and a member of the Tunisian Bar Association. He is also a member of the International Association of Constitutional Law.
