Lee Blair was an American animator, writer, and art director who worked in the animation industry for over 40 years. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on November 1, 1911. Blair began his career in animation in the 1930s, working for the Walt Disney Company. He worked on a number of classic Disney films, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Fantasia. He also worked on the classic Warner Bros. cartoons, including Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. In the 1950s, Blair moved to Hanna-Barbera Productions, where he worked on a number of classic cartoons, including The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Scooby-Doo. He also wrote and directed a number of television specials, including The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. Blair was also a prolific writer, penning a number of books, including The Art of Animation and The Art of Hanna-Barbera. Blair passed away in 2004 at the age of 92. He was inducted into the Animation Hall of Fame in 2006.
