In the 2022 Massachusetts House election, Mirra initially won his election but after recounts he lost to challenger Kristen Kassner by 1 vote. After the loss Mirra took legal action but the Supreme Court of Massachusetts dismissed the suit but Mirra is likely to appeal.

2021

Following redistricting efforts in 2021, the Second Essex district will shift south. Mirra will remain the incumbent in the district, but his district will now include Georgetown, Newbury, Rowley, Ipswich, Hamilton, and part of Topsfield.

2018

Mirra has faced close elections throughout his tenure as a State Representative. Mirra has not won a contested general election by more than 5%. In his most recent elections, Mirra fended off challenges from Boxford Democrat Christina Eckert in 2018 and 2020, winning by 325 in 2018 and by 755 votes in 2020.
