Léo Poll was a Ukrainian-born French composer and conductor. He was born in Odessa, Ukraine, on 23 January 1899. He studied at the Odessa Conservatory and the Paris Conservatory. Poll was a prolific composer, writing music for films, ballets, and the stage. He wrote the music for the films La Grande Illusion (1937), La Bête Humaine (1938), and La Règle du Jeu (1939). He also wrote the music for the ballets La Belle et la Bête (1946) and La Nuit (1947). Poll was also a conductor, leading the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire and the Orchestre National de l'Opéra de Paris. He was also the director of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées from 1947 to 1951. Poll died in Paris on 15 April 1971. He was 72 years old.
