Leslie Caron is a French-American actress and dancer who has had a long and successful career in film, television, and theater. She is best known for her roles in the classic films An American in Paris (1951), Gigi (1958), and Father of the Bride (1950). She has also appeared in numerous other films, including The L-Shaped Room (1962), The Man Who Loved Women (1983), and Chocolat (2000).
Caron began her career as a dancer, performing in the Ballet des Champs-Elysées in Paris. She made her film debut in the musical An American in Paris (1951), for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. She went on to star in the musical Gigi (1958), for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress.
Caron has also appeared in numerous television shows, including The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote, and Law & Order. She has also appeared on Broadway in the musicals Gigi and Grand Hotel.
Caron is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2002. She was also made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in France in 2003.
