Lila Prap is a Slovenian politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Slovenia from 2000 to 2002. She was the first female Prime Minister of Slovenia and the first female Prime Minister of a post-communist country in Europe. Prap was born in Celje, Slovenia, and studied law at the University of Ljubljana. She began her political career in the Slovenian Communist Party, and was elected to the Slovenian Parliament in 1990. She served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1992 to 1994, and was appointed Prime Minister in 2000. During her tenure as Prime Minister, Prap was credited with helping to bring Slovenia into the European Union and NATO. She also oversaw the introduction of the euro as the official currency of Slovenia. Prap left office in 2002 and was succeeded by Janez Janša. She has since served as the Slovenian Ambassador to the United States, and is currently a member of the European Parliament. As of 2021, Lila Prap's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
