Lorne Munroe was a Canadian composer and arranger who worked in the film and television industry. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and began his career in the 1940s as a pianist and arranger for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He went on to compose music for over 200 films and television shows, including the Academy Award-winning score for The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1974). He also wrote the theme music for the popular Canadian television series The Beachcombers (1972-1990). Munroe was a member of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and was awarded the Order of Canada in 1995 for his contributions to the Canadian music industry. He died in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2002.
