Lubomir Mihailo Kocka is a Czechoslovakian director, producer, and writer. He was born on 29 January 1957 in Czechoslovakia. He is best known for his work on the films The Last Supper (1996), The Last Supper 2 (1998), and The Last Supper 3 (2000). Kocka studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he graduated in 1981. He then went on to work as a director and producer for Czechoslovakian television. In 1996, he directed his first feature film, The Last Supper, which was a critical and commercial success. He followed this up with The Last Supper 2 and The Last Supper 3, both of which were also successful. Kocka has also directed several short films, including The Last Supper: The Making of a Legend (1998) and The Last Supper: The Final Chapter (2000). He has also written several books, including The Last Supper: A Novel (1998) and The Last Supper: The Making of a Legend (2000). Kocka has won several awards for his work, including the Czech Lion Award for Best Director in 1996 and the Czech Lion Award for Best Film in 1998. Lubomir Kocka, Film and Television director, was born in Zilina, Slovakia. He graduated from the College of Muse and Dramatic Arts - Department of Film and Television, Bratislava, Czechoslovakia and earned the degree of Master of Arts. The school along with the famous Film Academy FAMU in Prague, Czech Republic, educates highly professional filmmakers. He is an award-winning director with more than 30 years of directing experience. His experience relates first and foremost to what he has accomplished in Slovakia, former Czechoslovakia. He has directed 9 fictional feature films, 13 television dramas, 7 feature TV-series and mini TV-series, and 6 documentaries. He is also an author and co-author of several feature-length screenplays from which feature films are based. His productions have been aired globally. In addition to his numerous directing credits he is also an acclaimed film educator with twenty-five years of teaching experience. Currently, he is based in Savannah, Georgia, U. S. A. , at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) as a Professor of Film and Television, School of Film, Digital Media, and Performing Arts. His most significant accomplishments are: Producer of "The Lunch Box," the winner in the narrative category for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 37th Annual Student Academy Awards competition (2010); The Best Director Award for TV Miniseries "The Goblin"; National Film Award for Best Feature Film "Aphrodite" at Der Augsburger Kinderfilmdrache International Film Festival, Germany. The Best Director Award for the film "How Julia Saved the Riddle Kingdom"; director of "Aphrodite," awarded by The Prize of Children Jury for the film; director of many films chosen to be part of the official selections at international film and television festivals including: Cannes, France; Monte Carlo, Monaco; Prix Italia; Reims, France; Golden Chest Plovdiv, Bulgaria; Varna, Bulgaria; Munich, Germany; Prix Danube Bratislava, Slovakia.
