Lynn then paired up with vocalist/bassist Neal Merryweather; the duo recorded a single album in 1971. Lynn achieved her greatest musical success as the lead singer for the bluesy hard rock outfit Mama Lion; the band recorded two albums which were excellent showcases for Carey's amazingly strong and robust Janis Joplinesque blues belter voice. (Mama Lion's debut album "Preserve Wildlife" features a now notorious cover photo of the buxom Carey nursing a lion cub!). Carey sings the powerhouse full-throttle lead vocals on all the songs done by the fictional all-girl rock group the Carrie Nations in Russ Meyer's delightfully outrageous camp cult classic "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. " Moreover, Lynn also co-wrote the songs "Find It" and "Once I Had You" with Stu Phillips.
