Lynne Perrie

In 2001, Lynne was re-admitted to hospital, once again in serious ill-health, reportedly with heart problems.

In 1994, Perrie was written out of the top-rated soap under something of a cloud. She maintained that few plot lines and infrequent appearances had eroded the essence of her character and she had therefore elected to leave the series voluntarily. The UK press, however, speculated that she had been dismissed from the programme due to the effects of cosmetic surgery to her face.

In 1970, she won critical acclaim for her debut acting role as the neglectful mother in Ken Loach's award-winning film ''Kes''. This led to various television roles, including Mrs.

Petty in the ITV comedy series ''Queenie's Castle'' (1970-1972), starring Diana Dors.

Yorkshire born entertainer who began as a cabaret singer in the tough working-men's clubs of northern England before landing a string of minor roles in established television serials and eventually achieving stardom with a lead in the acclaimed film, Kes (1969).

In 1964, she appeared as a regular support act for the Beatles, and appeared on the same bill as other emerging stars like Sacha Distel and the Rolling Stones. She also performed eight times at London's Royal Albert Hall. On television, she made appearances on various television variety programmes, including ITV's ''Stars and Garters''.

Known as ''Little Miss Dynamite'', due to her vibrant personality, Perrie performed her cabaret act in clubs all around Britain, and in France, Germany, South Africa and the United States throughout the 1960s.

Lynne Perrie (7 April 1931 - 24 March 2006) was a Yorkshire based actress and singer.
