Mads Matthiesen is a Danish filmmaker and screenwriter. He is best known for his feature films Teddy Bear (2012) and The Model (2016). He has also directed several short films, including The Perfect Human (2007), which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. Matthiesen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 9 October 1976. He studied film at the National Film School of Denmark, graduating in 2006. Matthiesen's feature film debut, Teddy Bear, premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize. His second feature film, The Model, premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prix. Matthiesen has also directed several short films, including The Perfect Human (2007), which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
