Malena Andonova is a Bulgarian athlete who was born on 6 July, 1957 in Bulgaria. She is best known for her achievements in the field of track and field, having won multiple medals in the European Championships and the World Championships. She is also a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a bronze medal in the 800m at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and a silver medal in the 1500m at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Andonova began her career in the early 1970s, competing in the 800m and 1500m events. She won her first international medal in 1977, a bronze in the 800m at the European Championships in Prague. She went on to win multiple medals at the European Championships, including gold medals in the 800m in 1981 and 1983, and a silver medal in the 1500m in 1983. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Andonova won a bronze medal in the 800m. She also competed in the 1500m, but did not medal. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Andonova won a silver medal in the 1500m. Andonova retired from competitive athletics in 1989. She is currently a coach and mentor for young athletes in Bulgaria. She is also a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations Hall of Fame.
