He studied at the University of Rome and the University of California, Los Angeles. Garibaldi began his career in the entertainment industry in the late 1970s, working as a production assistant on the television series The Rockford Files. He then went on to work as a production assistant on the television series The Incredible Hulk. In 1993, Garibaldi co-created the television series The X-Files with Chris Carter. The show was a huge success and ran for nine seasons. Garibaldi also directed several episodes of the show. Garibaldi has also directed and produced several feature films, including The Last Winter, The Last Man on Earth, and The Last Samurai. Garibaldi is currently the president of Ten Thirteen Productions, a production company he founded in 1996. He is also the president of the Italian American Film Forum.
