Markku Hakulinen is a Finnish former professional ice hockey player who played in the SM-liiga and the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on 27 February 1956 in Joensuu, Finland. Hakulinen began his professional career in 1975 with KooVee of the SM-liiga. He played for KooVee for four seasons before joining the NHL's Minnesota North Stars in 1979. He played for the North Stars for two seasons before returning to Finland in 1981. Hakulinen returned to the SM-liiga in 1981 and played for KooVee, TPS, and HPK until his retirement in 1991. He was a two-time SM-liiga champion, winning the championship with KooVee in 1981 and with TPS in 1989. Hakulinen represented Finland at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, and at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. Hakulinen was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000. He currently works as a scout for the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
