Martha Carson was an American gospel singer and songwriter. She was born in Neon, Kentucky, and began singing in church at the age of four. She was a member of the Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee, and was a popular performer on the Grand Ole Opry from 1946 to 1953. She was known for her powerful voice and her ability to move audiences with her performances. Carson released her first single, "Satisfied", in 1946, and it became a hit. She went on to record more than 200 songs, including "Singing on the Highway", "The Lonesome Valley", and "The Great Speckled Bird". She also wrote several songs, including "Satisfied", "I'm Gonna Live the Life I Sing About in My Song", and "I'm Gonna Move On Up a Little Higher". Carson was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1972. She died in 2004 at the age of 83.
