Marty Lynch was a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1945 to 1956. He was a member of Geelong's 1951 premiership team and was a three-time club best and fairest winner. Lynch was born in Geelong, Victoria, on 8 August 1926. He attended St Joseph's College in Geelong and played his early football with the Geelong Amateur Football Club. He made his VFL debut for Geelong in 1945 and went on to play a total of 166 games for the club. Lynch was a versatile player who could play in a variety of positions. He was a strong mark and kick and was known for his courage and determination. He was a member of Geelong's 1951 premiership team and was a three-time club best and fairest winner, in 1949, 1951 and 1952. At the end of the 1956 season, Lynch retired from VFL football. He went on to coach the Geelong West Football Club in the Geelong Football League from 1957 to 1959. Lynch was inducted into the Geelong Football Club Hall of Fame in 2002. He died in Geelong on 28 April 2021, aged 97.
