Masahiro Akimoto is a former Japanese ski jumper who competed in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. He was born on 3 September 1956 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. Akimoto began ski jumping at the age of 12 and was selected for the Japanese national team in 1975. He won the Japanese national championship in 1979 and 1980. He competed in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, where he finished in 11th place in the normal hill event. After retiring from ski jumping, Akimoto became a ski jumping coach and was the head coach of the Japanese national team from 1998 to 2002. He was also the head coach of the Japanese team at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. As of 2021, Masahiro Akimoto's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
