Max Beauvoir is a Haitian actor, philosopher, and voodoo priest. He is best known for his work in the field of voodoo, and is considered to be the most influential voodoo priest in Haiti. He is also the founder of the Association of Voodoo Practitioners of Haiti. Beauvoir was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and was raised in a traditional voodoo family. He studied philosophy at the University of Haiti, and later went on to study at the Sorbonne in Paris. After returning to Haiti, he became a professor of philosophy at the University of Haiti. In the late 1970s, Beauvoir began to focus on voodoo, and in 1979 he founded the Association of Voodoo Practitioners of Haiti. He has since become a prominent figure in the voodoo community, and is considered to be the most influential voodoo priest in Haiti. Beauvoir has also appeared in several films, including the documentary Vodou: The Power of the Spirits (2005) and the feature film The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988).
