Md. Atiur Rahman Atik is a Bangladeshi politician who was born on 1 December, 1957 in Bangladeshi. He is currently 66 years old. He is a member of the Bangladesh Awami League and served as the Governor of Bangladesh Bank from 2009 to 2016. Atik completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Dhaka in 1979. He then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Economics from the same university in 1981. Atik began his career as a lecturer at the University of Dhaka in 1981. He then went on to become a professor at the same university in 1989. He also served as the Chairman of the Department of Economics at the University of Dhaka from 1994 to 1996. Atik was appointed as the Governor of Bangladesh Bank in 2009 and served in the position until 2016. During his tenure, he was credited with introducing a number of reforms in the banking sector. He also played a key role in the development of the country's financial sector. Atik is married and has two children. He is an avid reader and enjoys playing golf in his free time.
